14.5' x 8' x 12' corten weathering steel Southern Vermont I began with ink and brush and the clean white pages of my sketchbook. Working at first with curving gestures in ink, I then translated them into steel, contrasting the horizontal lines of the stonewalls and plantings of the site with soft upward-lifting curves. The result, according to Frank Phillips, engineer and fabricator of the sculpture, is beauty, flowing grace, a whimsical soft gesture of the brush that is almost blowing up in the wind.
